      Bobby, You’re right. Mixolydian doesn’t really work with the altered 9th. Try using the diminished scale, which is a scale that alternates whole and half steps. So for C7(b9): C Db Eb E F# G A Bb This is a very well documented scale – there are books written just on using diminished!
