TRANE TRAX

In the 1960's, the innovative tenor saxophonist John Coltrane took the jazz world for a wild ride. From his roots as a hard bop stylist, Trane moved through several distinct phases as an artist. From the moment he formed his own quartet, the saxophonist sought ways to expand his harmonic palette. The results became known as TRANE CHANGES, and we've got a nice selection of tracks which will allow you to experience the richness of Coltrane's harmonic imagination.

This set of tracks includes a couple of tunes based upon earlier pieces, Countdown (from Miles' Tune Up) and 26-2 (which uses Parker's Confirmation as a starting point). Trane also re-worked the standard Body and Soul, so you'll get to work with those changes too. In addition, you've got 3 versions (at different tempos) of Coltrane's most famous composition, Giant Steps.
